Vancouver is an awesome city. It is the first place I ever visited in Canada, and it reminded me very much of my hometown of San Francisco, but cleaner and with less homeless people.

I wish it were still that way...there are lots of homeless now. Sadly, the corporate greed syndrome has caught up with us, but some 90% of the time the owners doing the evicting of tenants are foreign owners living far away. What they are doing, to get around very moderate rent controls, is evicting people under the "need to renovate" clause, then just painting a room and renting to new tenants for up to $500 per month more.

I did see suburban ghettos of mostly Asian (presumably, due to the outside colour schemes) McMansions, so that wouldn't surprise me.
