Check out our Frapper!

Check out our map, and while you are there add your location and a quick thought!

Really cool and fun. How come Ellen doesn't show up on the big map? You can see her if you zoom in to new Zealand. So how is the weather half-way around the world, Ellen?

Not that warm. Probably the kind of weather you enjoy Castlemaid.

59 °F / 15 °C
Mostly Cloudy

It's nice that you took the time to seek me out on the map. \:\)
There is heaps more room to breathe down here in New Zealand. I like the map too. I think it is fascinating to think of you guys so far away on the American continent.

If you click on a persons name it will zoom to their location. I also think it is fascintating to see where everyone is in the world. We have a lot of members in the UK, so I am waiting to see some of them post...

How did you get this information?!?!?

Logic suggests you either queried the people on the map to see if they would like their location revealed or checked their profiles for such info.

Paranoia suggests youre backtracing IP addresses to reveal their locations.

Either way I'm covered, but I am hoping my logical side is right.

you add yourself only if you want to. it only resolves to your city or zip if you are in usa.
i think this is an excellent idea. Winter, do the shout outs overwrite themselves? it would be good if they did because i thought i will post a picture of the australian sky over my house every day that i think of it.
i'll try it now, but i don't want a long list of random clouds. maybe i can delete older.......actually i'll try it now.
edit: it doesn't come out properly at that size.

Mr X - We just entered our zip codes (in the U.S. anyway) and our loction is revealed on the map. You can rest assured it is totally voluntary. No IP addresses involved. \:\)

XB - Its a shame the picture turned out so small. I always think of you and Ellen being rather close together geographically. Looking at the map I can see that I am way off base with that thought! And It appears as though I live in Carly's back yard on the map.

Yes Mr.X it is all voluntary. I'm not even the one who added the members that are on the map. You have to add yourself if you want to be on it.

I don't track any user identifiable information of the members. The only information I ever collect is their email address, and that is just to make sure they are a legitimate person before granting them access rights to post. I don't track IP #'s either. The message board software does record the last IP# you post from, but that is all...and I have no interest in knowing. (I don't even care if users decide to post through an anonymizer proxy service ;\) )

The lack of people added to it supports the logical assumption.

Ok logic wins out, but I don't feel like revealing where I am.

Really now Linda-2. You don't have to add to the paranoia.

Anyway, I'm just not able to add myself. It keeps saying undefined city, even though the city is on the the very list they supply in the rolldown window. Oh well.

Oh no Bart, You're in "Limbo"?

Mr X already mentioned in another thread that he has stolen Link's magical flute. He can always get away from me! (It's fom a ninetindo game - I'm assuming you knew this?) LOL! I am not that good of a stalker.

Mapquest and the use of a taxi make for good stalkers. Don't ask how I know this ... it's all very logical. It's also easy to find people with the right equipment. Sheesh, I mean I'm paranoid and all but Mr. X took the flute :p (just kidding)

A good day, Serenity

I was a very good detective a few years ago. Thru computer logs, cell phone bills, bank statements and adding 2 + 2, I was not only able to catch my husband cheating on me with women he met on the internet and at local bars, I showed him a list I had made with every single woman's name, address, and phone number. I knew dates when he had spent time with these women (he traveled alot for his job) and where they spent the time. He was smart not to use a credit card, but *so* dumb to use ATM machines to get money. I guess since I was the one who took care of the checkbook and finances he had no idea that ATM withdrawals show up on bank statements with locations.

How did I use this information? Only to show him that *this* was the reason I had made an appointment with an attorney and was filing for divorce. I never bothered any of the women. Not even the one he was "dating" locally. Good detective / bad stalker. Because I had no desire to be one.

Now how's that for "revealing" something about myself?? LOL
