It's been a while since I dropped in and I wanted to say HI!
I've been very busy, because I home school my son, Cole. He's going to be 13 in June and is doing very well. Now, I have to take my daughter to the grocery store and fix a dish for a her FCCLA banquet tomorrow evening. Fun, fun!

Back Later

It's wonderful to see OLD members still alive. :D Sorry, Carla, I couldn't resist. I think maybe "long term member" would have been a better choice, unless of course you're feeling really old. \:\) Welcome back.

LOL, honestly Bart, I'm feeling really old! This time of year is very busy. Cleaning my pond for Spring was a huge indication that I'm not getting any younger. I should have an exercise routine through the winter and it wouldn't be so hard on me.

How have you been, friend?

Thank you, Chay. I'll try to pop in now and then. I'm going to wrap up this school year pretty quick. Today I had to push my son, Cole a little to get his work finished, lol. I had decided to study Japan and thought it would be very interesting for him with the Shoguns and Samurai, but guess what? He started watching WW II documentaries and that's all he's talked about. He's very interested in Hitler, too.

He's going to be 13 soon and sometimes he surprises me. He decided he wanted contacts and was determined to get them in. He finally succeeded after a trying time.

Last year he couldn't do the typing, so I tried again this year and he's doing great. I made him type up Civil War newspaper articles. He grumbled about it at first, but eventually he was typing away.

I'm ready for a break.

Hello Carla and welcome back! I always admire parents that have the patience and the brains to home school (my fear was always that Max would be ahead of me in a week). I admire your commitment.

Sounds like Cole is doing well and this was a good year for both of you.

Do you take summers off? If so - ENJOY!

Ahh...the annual cleaning of the sludge from the pond! I just finished mine a few weeks ago and I can understand your statement completely. I hurt my back doing it a couple of years ago and now each Spring I have a painful reminder of my advancing age! I would love to see some pond photos if you get a chance! We have the picture forum where you could upload them so all could enjoy!

And welcome back!
Mark

Hi, Carla!

Welcome back \:\)

Speaking of cooking dishes, I have a wonderful one that I just made (it was based on a recipe from Top Chef). It was this terrayaki vegetable and chicken stir fry. It had bok choy, soy beans, carrots, bell pepper, and onion. I used the Mrs. Dash Terrayaki marinade and that worked really well. Very, very good! I will have to post it to the new recipe section.

Ah, thank you, Mark. I don't know how much longer I'll keep my pond, but I love it. I'd like to move to a location that's much easier to take care of. I'm already thinking about how much I have to do with mowing and weeding and I live in a two-story.

Right now, my pond isn't much to look at. The water has turned a little and hopefully, when the plants begin to grow, it will look much better and I'll take pictures.

Serenity, that dish sounds delicious! I'd love the recipe! Hope things are going your way. Nice to talk with old(not literally, lol)friends.

Mom4Max, Cole will have Math during the summer, because he is behind in that subject. Math is his weakness, because of a sequencing problem. I'm trying to get my husband to start a wood shop for Cole. I think that it would help him and he would see the finished product. Math is also my weak subject, which is why we are behind. He'd much rather study any subject, but math. Cole has a tendency to forget a sequence if he doesn't practice everyday. I HATE FRACTIONS!

I do enjoy putting together lessons plans and a person can find anything on the web. There are excellent sites to gather information.

I don't know about time off, Linda. There's too much work outside! I'm going to enjoy my summer anyway, lol. It's been a long Winter!
