seems like discussion has really tapered off the last week or two and not many people checking in adding insight or thoughts. I hope all is going well for our friends who got dumped on with this last snow storm. do you mind sending some up this way? I can see dead grass everywhere. I am still waiting for the greenhouse effect to rear its ugly head. doesn't seem like we globally warming up any where near me. its not record cold either just dry cold and boring.

spring turkey season starts in little over 2 months and I think I might get a chance this year to be in the woods. I wont be able to get out before sun up and the fly down but I could still find them on the ground. now I just gotta get my turkey gun back so I can go out. a condition of my release from the hospital (a VOLUNTARY stay) was that the guns had to be where I couldn't have access to them until I was no longer a threat to myself. I can very happily say that I am not; especially after I found out my true diagnosis as being asperger. explains EVERY thing that happened to me and why I had so many problems. I am not really expecting to be able to harvest a wild turkey but that is not the point, being "there" is.

No, I too have noticed that there has been silence on the Board, partly through my own fault, since I have come in and read stuff occasionally (when work or computer problems haven't prevented me) but haven't interacted as much as I once did. The Board goes through these phases, though. Sometimes it will burst with life and other times it won't; sometimes when people do want to talk there'll be lively (if occasionally fierce) debate and other times it will be more light-hearted.

Snow has been coming on and off, meanwhile, on my side of the Atlantic, although January got the worst of it- as indeed did Wales and Scotland. Occasionally the bitter breezes will induce ice again where I am (typical British February really) and the fact that it is snowing at all in major cities is an indication of climate change for us, if nobody else.

In any case, it's good to hear you're doing well and- at the risk of sounding anti-vegan- I'm glad you're a danger to turkeys and not yourself.

smile

Have fun, now.

I've noticed that this board has phases. for a while we get heated and frequent conversations than it tapers off for a while and picks up again. almost like in cycles.

if a longbeard gets within 50 yards or less of my setup, then if I can get a safe ethical shot off that bird is gonna get smoked on the BBQ. ohhh I am already drooling just thinking about it. I'd be happy to share but I am afraid it would spoil before it got far. I couldn't do that to such a majestic beautiful bird.

My area just got dumped with 30 inches of snow this weekend. Today was a snow day. I'm still trying to figure out how to get to the bus stop!

Tomorrow and Wednesday will see another 10 to 20 inches.

I have the sniffles - thanks to no heat and crappy windows/doors that let the cold in (especially in the bedroom) and a really, really cranky guinea. So, I have my hands full over here lol

I'm trying to figure out if I should go to counseling Wednesday - I need another thing of soymilk and something cold (like ice cream) would feel great going down my throat. I'm not even sure if the stores are open lol

Oh you guys. Snow, what's that? Here we are, in BC Canada, about to host the Winter Olympics in a few more days, and we are having the warmest weather in 93 years. Some of the mountains we are supposed hold events on are so bare of snow they are now hauling snow over 150 miles (one way) from other mountains, and then lifting it in with helicopters. Sadly, it is melting so fast that this might have to become an ongoing thing, with snow dropped in nightly for daytime events. Shudder. Everyone else seems to be clearing their way OUT of snow, and we're trying to bring it IN.

I just bought a snow blower at 50% off since they can't get rid of them any other way but huge markdowns. I don't expect to need it for at least another 11 months, if then.

I need to get to the pharmacy and the store tomorrow and they're calling for more snow - yikes!

I'm hoping the buses are running tomorrow, otherwise I'm walking!
