Thank you for the welcome, I knew that saying she has as, or pdd nods was a sticky thing but her is my reason. I've only been to a psychologist twice, He said she has aspergers, but when I tried to get her into were he recommended (VMRC) getting her further tested they said it could be other things like pdd nos, and they don't accept a diagnosis from a psychologist, it has to come from a doctor with a PHD. And got the same response from the school. My intuition is she has as,just a few more things she does, last year in kindergarten they had to line up before school and she HAD to be the first on in line or it was crisis time she would get very upset, After every shower when the water is turned off she has to take a drink from the last few drops dripping from the shower head no matter how much in a hurry we are in. Some times when she does get into trouble and i send her to her room she will have a full conversation or argument like someone is there. That does not happen alot but it has enough to where I have notice its different from the other kids. She likes to share but only for a few minutes then she wants things back. The eye contact I really started to notice when I tried to change up how I talked to her and one day when she had gotten in trouble I got down at her level and tried to explain what was going on and why she got in trouble and she would look anywhere but in my eyes and in the middle of me talking to her she cuts in and asks if I can read her a book or if I remember when we did something.Sometimes she goes Thur a bout with waiting to long to go to the bathroom and would rather wet her pants than stop what she's doing. She loves to play by herself and can do so for hours, just recently she has been putting together Lego's,she maid a horse and it was awesome I don't think i could have done it,and she also got a simple snap together little rubber jewelery kit and loves making them, she maid me a necklace which I had to hang on my door nob for at least a month. It would bang on the door which maid it hard to sneak up on them and check n see how they were doing, but if I took it off it was right back on there as soon as she noticed it. I have to say I am so excited to have found this web site and look forward to lots more conversations. I'm not the best at explaining things myself so please bare with me.I am also just trying to put everything together like what she does so I can get the proper diagnosis and do the best that I can do for her, so she can be or do anything she wants. She is so bright and so Funny, I wouldn't want her any other way! One more thing that worries me is I saw where aspies can get depressed because there intelligent enough to know somethings wrong.

Last thing first: we can get depressed by anything, but we don't really know anything is wrong. It is when we are rejected socially when trying to interact, and we cannot understand what it is that causes the problem that we may start to get depressed. We will go merrily along thinking we have friends when all the others are doing is saying "good morning" to us.

I am very concerned about your school saying that she needs a diagnosis from not just a psychologist, or even a doctor, but one with a Ph.D. That's pure insanity. You'd better tell us where you are located, because I doubt that this is a legal requirement; I think they're trying to 'snow you'.

Your daughter certainly sounds aspie enough, although nothing is definitive in its own right.

Very interesting, I cant even get them to help my 9 yr.old(3rd grader who should be in 4th but held her back) in reading even though she is reading at 2nd grade 3rd month grade level. After they tested her by reading most of it to her. There outcome "she's not far enough behind to qualify for help" and "she doesnt have a disorder" But then they said We wont get any extra money to help her!!! Money!! they get paid to help children but want more, I thought thats what a reading resource teacher gets paid to do, I guess they just get paid to tell you your child cant read and want more to help them.. I read with her but dont know how to help her. She cannot sound out the words and when I help her with them the next sentence same word we have to do it all over again. So I have no faith in the system here..

Mom4Max could give you the most help and assistance. our friend v-dog, who seems to be taking a hiatus, is an awesome legal resource, especially Ca laws and he's not a lawyer. that guy seems to know everything about anything. he's like wikepedia. good luck, bring whatever paper work you have regarding her. you'd be surprised how much the schools are REQUIRED to accomodate special needs. this is why they play hard ball and try to cause delays or hardships, so parents get discouraged and quit. it cost a lot of money.

good for you, dont take no for an answer. stand up for her and her rights. she is entitled to certain rights and accomodations when needed. hopefully she wont need the IEP but it always better to have and not need than need and not have.
